Prosthetic
A prosthetic device is anything which replaces a missing limb. Prosthetics are generally divided into upper extremity devices and lower extremity devices. The greatest population of limb loss is below the knee as a result of diabetes and peripheral vascular disease.
Orthotic
Orthosis is the term used to describe any devices which supports a weakened or injured body part. An orthotic devices may be made of many materials including plastic, leather, metal or carbon fiber. All orthoses are generally categorized by the joint they cross or support.
Pediatric
Most pediatric braces are made of thin plastics. Like all braces they are used to support or control weak muscles or over active muscles. Common conditions include spina bifida, cerebral palsy, scoliosis and numerous other developmental issues.
